On Saturday, I hosted a little party at our place to take advantage of the gorgeous Spring Weather. I had thought about planning a little party about a month ago and was trying to think of the perfect theme to capture the upbeat nature of Spring when I came across the Ruche Spring Lookbook. I was so inspired by all the lovely Spring images, and as soon as I saw this image, I knew that I wanted to throw a party that involved potting our own plants.

Once I had the potted plant idea, the rest came from that. Since it was going to involve soil and dirt, of course I had to have it outside, and what better way to cool off outside than to eat lots of lovely sorbet? Hence the "Seeds & Sorbet" theme.

It was a lot of fun spending quality time with some girlfriends, sharing in desserts and getting our hands dirty. I made four different sorbets, along with two savory snacks to balance out the sweetness of the sorbets.

Each girl got to choose a packet of flower seeds, herb seeds, pots, and mini garden tools, and then from there we set about potting our plants.

It was such a lovely afternoon, and as usual with all my little parties, Brian was sooooo helpful with all the setup and packing away. He's such a sweet and supportive husband!
How was your weekend?

All around very cute! I sometimes wish I lived in Houston so I could sometimes get invited to your gatherings. Then I remember the humidity and I'm more grateful I don't live there. ;) haha. But it's a lovely idea and you made everything look so beautiful!

Please tell me I can be invited to the next one...if only I lived closer! I love the idea of planting my own herb garden once spring gets closer (it snowed last week) and would have a blast planting with my girlfriends!!

I always shied away from eating sorbet while working with seeds. Scared that I might accidentally mix the two.
Lovely party!:) Nothing like sitting out, enjoying the weather in the garden with delicious sorbets!
And your little seed packets are precious!

an AMAZING idea! it all looks so lovely! You should sell little "sets" in your etsy shop... a little terra cotta pot, a few seed packs (which are so lovely, by the way). I'm sure people would snatch them up. I sure would!

Dear Dionne,
Your parties are the best! I absolutely LOVE the invitations you designed and the beautiful table arrangements. Your husband is seriously awesome for helping out so much. I know you do a blogger get together in LA, but do you also have one for Houston or Dallas by chance? I'm in Dallas, but I'd be more than willing to drive!
oh my goodness, you are incredible! I wish I had enough graphic design talent to create my own seed packets/ cards! I am swooning over the embroidery too!
