Breakfast Scene

Let's have breakfast, shall we?

Photobucket

Since the weather is so lovely right now, we absolutely MUST eat outside. Would either of these spots be suffice?

You bring the juice and coffee, and I'll bring the food.

If you'd like the recipe for this bread, meet me after the jump.

(Eating area images from here at House Beautiful. It makes me want several different patios, I just can't decide which space I like best!)

SWEET VANILLA BREAD

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup and 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 cups sour cream
2 1/2 tablespoons vanilla essence
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1/4 cup chopped up walnuts
2 tablespoons almond meal
2 tablespoons cold butter chopped in little cubes
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
- Combine flour, 3/4 cup of the brown sugar, confectioners sugar, baking powder, sour cream, vanilla, salt and eggs in bowl. Beat until mixed.
- Pour this batter into a loaf tin brushed with butter so the finished bread doesn't stick.
- Put the chopped walnuts, almond meal, the rest of the light brown sugar, cinnamon and butter into a bowl and mix until soft little balls form.
- Sprinkle this mix over the batter.
- Bake for 40 minutes.

For the sandwiches, I just used marmalade as the spread, and then topped it with slices of fresh mango, banana, crabapples and a dollop of maple syrup. It makes a lovely breakfast sandwich! Enjoy

That bread would be such a treat for brunch. Thanks for posting the recipe. You might not know this, but where can I find almond meal in the grocery store?

oh, that rustic setting is amazing!

Amanda, almond meal is usually where the flour is. If you can't find it, just buy almonds and grind them up until they're a fine consistency - same thing. :)

As always your creativity is just fabulous. Can't wait for bringing a lunchbox out to the park when the cherry blossoms are at their best.

I am all in, Dionne, and next time you can come to my house. (although Chicago is still too cold to eat outside.)

As always, your artwork is stunning. This one is so inviting.

Do I get to choose the location? I love the rustic views!

Your warm vanilla bread with fruit is a delight....summer is written all over it, Dionne! Already copied it. Sweetbreads are a family favorite. Mine expect a new and different one every time they visit!

It still is a bit chilly here to enjoy outside meals. However, I am truly looking forward to enjoying it coming cherry blossom season under the lovely flowers.
Sorry for my belated comment, I had hard time trying to change my blogs template and failed, took a while to rectify it back to the original one^^;)

Beautiful photos! I absolutely love all breakfast foods and love eating outdoors. My one regret when we got our condo was that we have no outdoor space AT ALL. I guess I wasn't thinking but in the summer I get really bummed about it. I miss the days when I lived with my parents and I got to sit outside on the deck on the weekends with my coffee and a cooking magazine. At least now I know what to look for when we get out next place!

Oh my gosh! I just ordered my hubby to make me those garden lights IMMEDIATELY! Haha! They are amazing!

The yardwork will definitely test my mediocre thumb, it can be green when it wants to be, but sometimes I get lazy... hehe!
