Home Textile Giveaway

Are any of you collectors?

I used to collect things, but moving to another country kind of put a halt on the collecting. I used to collect pretty paper. Last year I started a new collection - tea cups. It's growing slowly but surely.

................Photobucket

A store I came across recently that is full of pretty things I would like to collect is Indobay Textiles. Tania, the lovely owner has clearly put lots of time and effort into stocking her store with her gorgeous handmade pieces. From pillowcases to gift tags to cups, she has a great range of pretty items.

Tania is constantly armed with a small notebook to jot down spur-of-the-moment ideas she has for her store. She is inspired easily, especially by texture and shape. Her favorite shade is white, with little pops of color like yellow, dove grey or citrus green added to spice it up. Her love for shape and color and creating bleeds into her hobbies, evident in her love for interior design. She is often changing things around in her home and adding new items to fit within her latest design scheme.

Tania found out about Etsy through a friend of hers who was selling modern baby goods in her own Etsy store. Tania loved the community platform and how interesting and innovating all the products were. She knew that it would be the perfect fit for her creations and was excited to get started. Although it was daunting at first, Tania took a deep breath and dove right in.

Tania is giving one lucky reader a $35 gift card to her store. To enter, please leave a comment here telling me what you've always wanted to collect, but haven't quite started yet, and also one of the goodies you would choose from her store if you won. I will announce the winner next week.

(PS. Brian's and my love story is up on the Precious Nuptials blog here if you want to check it out.)

Grand Opening

This past Thursday night, Brian, two of my girlfriends and I went to the Grand Opening of the latest Ruggles Green Restaurant. It's Houston's first Certified Green Restaurant.

Photobucket

I am part of a Foodie Club who meets once a month at a different restaurant, and as soon as I heard about this opening, I immediately thought of two of my Foodie Club girlfriends to come along with us.

It was a great night out with free appetizers and desserts all night, and a fantastic DJ. Then when it got dark, everyone hit the dancefloor.

Good fun, good food and good people. That's pretty much the perfect night out.

Pretty in the Park

I have a problem.

I've always liked the idea of wearing pretty dresses to the park, and while I LOVE to wear dresses - I just can't seem to be comfortable wearing them at the park.

.............Photobucket

Is it just me? When I go to the park, I like to lie on the grass and roll down grassy slopes. I really can't do that in a dress.

Photobucket

What would you give up? Rolling on the grass or wearing dresses to the park?

(PS. Come check out my latest post at the Precious Nuptials blog here).
(PPS. Roy Joy is having a lovely vintage salt & pepper shaker giveaway here. I entered. Have you?)

A Breakfast Bridal Shower

Remember the Breakfast Bridal Shower invitations that I made that I posted about here?

Photobucket

Here are some pictures from the shower for you to see.

Photobucket

I found some vintage toasters from various Etsy stores for the flower arrangements. I thought it would be a fun and unique way to reinforce the breakfast theme.

A friend of mine came up with a great favor idea to go along with the theme - homemade pancake mix. So the day before the shower, she and I layered the ingredients into jars and then I finished them off with a tag that matched the shower invitations.

Then of course the menu was all breakfast food. Although the shower was held in the afternoon, we thought that having breakfast in the afternoon would be a fun and unexpected turn from the usual afternoon tea showers. Included on the menu were French Toast Kebabs, personal servings of Potato Casserole, Scrambled Egg Pastries (arranged over a bed of Fruit Loops to bring more color to the table and echo the breakfast theme), Cereal Milk Panacottas, Mini Pancake Stacks with homemade maple and blueberry syrups (made by my awesome mum), and bagels with cream cheese and mini donuts.

Everything came together well - I was happy with how it turned out.

Pretty Dresses Giveaway

My favorite thing to wear is a dress.

.........................Photobucket

I always feel prettier in dresses, no matter if I pair it with heels or flip-flops. I like casual dresses, fun dresses, elegant dresses... whenever I imagine a romantic rendezvous or a fun girl's get-together,
dresses are always my first choice.

That is why I ADORE the store Shabby Apple.

Photobucket

The dresses at Shabby Apple are simply stunning. Gorgeous details and colors, and such beautiful styles. There are numerous dresses that I want to take with me on a whirlwind getaway, or wear at a quiet tea with friends. I can't stress how much I LOVE this store. The Dress Section is unbelievable! And then on top of that, they carry a fabulous range of accessories.

Photobucket

Shabby Apple is the brainchild of Emily and CK who were always looking for lovely dresses that didn't require cardigans or scarves or extra additions to look complete. They wanted dresses that were self-contained, and that they could wear not only with friends, but could segue into visits with their parents - basically dresses that covered enough skin to make them feel comfortable in any setting.

Emily and CK are graciously giving away a dress to one lucky reader. The winner will have their pick of any dress they want from either of the following collections: Central Park, Carousel, 1943, Baja, Manhattan, or my personal favorite - Oh La La. I am going to be gone for two weeks on vacation, so you'll have until Sunday the 22nd to enter (plenty of time to think about which dress you'd like). To enter, leave a comment here telling me which dress you would choose if you won, and how that dress would make you feel if you wore it. I will announce the winner when I get back.

(I worked my first Indian Wedding over the weekend! It was a 2-day affair and so much fun. To see pics and read all about it, stop by my latest post at the Precious Nuptials blog here and leave some comment love)
(PPS. The winner of the McCheek's Mayhem giveaway is Tylerpants. Congrats!)
