The Black Labrador

English pubs are so homey.

Last night, Brian, some friends and I went to grab dinner at a darling English Pub in Houston called The Black Labrador.

Photobucket

Shepherd's Pie, Beef Wellington, Fish and Chips... I love it. I haven't been to an English Pub in about 5 years, so it was a nice little treat.

How was your weekend?

(PS. the winner of the Cynthia Vardhan giveaway is Courtney. Congrats!)

There is a nice English Pub I hit up everytime I make it back to PA. They have a great potato pastie which is like mashed potatoes in a baked potato.

Mmm... I love Beef Wellington :-)
The last time I went to London, my friend took me to the greatest little pub where the Rolling Stones used to hang out when they were just hitting it big. We shared bangers & mash and fish & chips, and stared at a gorgeous team of rugby players across the room. Not a bad memory :-)

that pub looks fantastic! I want to go! :) and I've never had Beef Wellington, but just from what I've heard I'm pretty sure I'd LOVE it! hehe (I already know Shepherd's Pie and Fish and Chips are winners...)

my weekend was good. went to the Natural History Museum in LA (which I'm going to post about eventually...) and saw a movie Sunday (Predators-- a boy movie but it wasn't too bad. I only hid my eyes a few times!)

Mmm, that looks delicious. What a cute name for a pub, too.

English pubs are such fun, Dionne! And I love their names. We have one here we go to all the time.
Did you know there is an American mystery writer who names all her books (which are about a British dectective) after real English pubs? Her name is Martha Grimes.

I found them rather different in London...more standing than sitting, but the food was superb!

I love English pubs a ridiculous amount of a lot. Perhaps because I spent my days studying in England at them and they just...bring me home. :)
