Cottage Farm Giveaway

You all know by now how much I love the Farmhouse Chic look.

I love the soft femininity paired with the rustic earthiness of farmhouse wares. There's something so homey, yet so sophisticated about it - the perfect blend of old and new.

I would like to introduce you to Cottage Farm. A wonderful store owned by the delightful Krissie. Krissie has made sure that her little corner on Etsy is well-appointed with darling, pre-loved beauty.

History, generations of family stories and restoration are major inspirations to Krissie. She loves finding the perfect item and giving it a new lease on life. In addition to scouting the perfect goodies for her store, Krissie is a grad student pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree, and also enjoys cooking and exploring new places. She also enjoys wearing the colors cream and white. These two shades are the baseline that all her outfits and decor choices spring from - and then masterfully adding little accent colors to the mix.

With her forte of creative skills, Krissie enjoys photography and working on pieces in her studio - something she would love to add to her creative repertoire is the art of tatting. She feels that it is a beautiful domestic art with gorgeous results, and wishes she could find someone to teach it to her. In the meantime, she'll just have to sit back and indulge on her favorite desserts - one of which is Fresh Stewed Rhubarb over Vanilla Icecream. Doesn't that sound divine?! You can also find Krissie over at her blog The Cottage Log.

Krissie is generously giving away one of her goodies to a lucky reader. To enter, please leave a comment here telling me which item you would prefer (all of which are included in the photos above) - the Brass Napkin Rings, the Linen Dishtowel, or the Rooster Trivet. I would also like to know what creative skill you would love to learn. I will announce the winner in two weeks. Thursday, April 29.

K. Davis said...

the rooster trivet is ALOT of fun!! Something that I'd like to learn, is to knit. Everyone in my family does it, and they make such beautiful things, I'm surprised I've never picked yarn and needles up in my fingers and learned for myself!

Kristin said...

French. I want to learn to speak French. Then Wade has no choice but to take me to Paris!

And bread making. I really want to learn how to bake a good loaf of bread.

And I'd love to take another painting class. Watercolors. That was my favorite in college.

And... no, I'm kidding. I think three is enough. Especially with two Twinkies keeping me very busy!

if cutlery could talk think of the tales those knives could tell....I just love the styles of vintage silverware! If I could learn a new skill is on my mind right now as I drive by a sign daily offering glass beadmaking classes. I think I'll call tomorrow! I'm also teaching myself a new recycle skill, I'm going to make my own seedling plant pots out of newspaper-you can plant them right into the ground (if your local newspaper uses soy based dyes of course!)

daisycakessoap said...

I love that rooster trivet. My Chinese zodiac sign is the rooster, so I feel a special affinity for them (I'm not superstitious, just sentimental), but I think I would adore it even without that connection.

And I wish I could draw. I can't. I can doodle, but I can do anything realistic. I would love to be able to sketch meaningfully, instead of mindlessly.

I live in a 100+ yr old farmhouse in which very little has been updated (except for electricity and indoor plumbing). I still use the wood/gas stove that was put in in 1940. I'd like the rooster trivet as he is a handsome fellow and would like it here...we do have 8 lonely hens...
I would like to learn to do watercolor painting. I quilt, sew, crochet, knit etc...mostly self taught. I love the soft colors of watercolor and they would slip in well in this old house.

I would love to learn more about colors and textures when putting together fabric combinations for items I make. I struggle with what colors, prints, and textures look great together, and ususully end up playing it too safe. I want to learn to step out of the box!

I would like to learn how to make a pottery glaze. I already know the pottery part, though I don't do it often enough (don't have a kiln), but would love to learn how to make the glazes that change the color and make the piece glossy and a piece of art.

I totally agree with you about the rustic and feminine qualities! This is a tough choice between the linen towel and trivet, but I would choose the trivet. I just purchased a vintage mixing bowl that would look beautiful along side the trivet!

I especially like the knives! So nice and heavy looking.
I would like to learn how to sew!

I think tatting is sadly missing from most of our lives...my grandmothers both did it. I did a lot of needlepoint and cross stiching but very little knitting and no tatting. I would think any knitting shop would be able to either teach it or tell you where to go to learn.

Wonderful giveaway, Dionne. Is the Tuscan bowl on the list? I loved it. Or do I have to go to her store to get it?

The rooster trivet is adorable!

I'd love to learn how to sew well enough to make stuffed animals.

Thanks for the giveaway and good luck to everyone!
