Hiraldo the Succulent. No, not Geraldo, but Hiraldo. I like it spelled with a H :)
.......

I am hoping that Hiraldo doesn't end up like our Basil plant that only lasted 4 months. I find myself strangely attached to this little succulent. Maybe because I named him? Or maybe because his leaves are so plump full of water that they look like they could be his little muscles (he's quite the brawny plant!)? Whatever the case, I am hoping that our apartment will be the perfect new home for him.

I am told that lots of sunlight and only serving him beverages once a month is the key. Do any of you have any care recommendations for us? Any of you want to be Hiraldo's God Parents? :)

Aww, that's so cute. I wish I had a green thumb, but my past history with plants is usually forgetting them and letting them die :(
Oh Hiraldo is cute! I wish i could keep a plant, but I know I don't have a green thumb at all. Succulent plants are really pretty!! Enjoy it!!
Those cactus-plants are so easy :) I have one and I haven't killed it yet and I water every few weeks and keep it in the kitchen window.
beautiful! I'm really attached to my jade plant in my kitchen :)
Congrats on your new "baby", Dionne! Love your blog so much. :)
SO cute! :)
Aww, look at the little fella! I love plants, and I've had most of mine for years, but I'm currently looking at 3 half dying plants in my office and seriously questioning my green thumb. :)
congrats!!
So cute!
Hugs from Italy,
Federica.
Ha ha Hiraldo is super cute!!! Good luck and take care of it.
Off to chk out that post:-)
have a lovely day
Ooh, you're new plant - I mean family member - is lovely! I've never had one of those.
I enjoyed your new Meylah post too!
how funny, do you know that i love, love love succulents and have never purchased one?!! you've inspired me, i think i'm a bit afraid, i only have one plant. an african violet that i actually talk to, no really i do. and do you know it has perked up and producing flowers for me since i started flirting with it :) now, i need to get brave and not think i'll kill every plant i bring into the house, next step a new succulent. i love the look of them. enjoy it! :)
LOL little Hiraldo is adorable...I better not even try to be present at the baptism, let alone try to be his Godparent, as I kill every single plant within a five mile radius of me. You know how some people have green thumbs? Mine's black.
:)
Welcome home Hiraldo... You are a lucky guy! Dionne would be fantastic!
aw, Hiraldo is so cute! I'll be an honorary god parent! though I must warn you, I don't exactly have a green thumb! my terrarium died. so sad! partly my fault but mostly the fault of the boy and the roommate-- they put it outside to air it out and didn't remember to take it back in! same thing with my little echeveria plant that was so adorable. though, that thing seemed like it had a death wish since the day I got it in the mail...
anyway, my bf just the other day cleaned out the jars they were in so I am hoping to at least get a new little succulent this weekend. let's just hope it doesn't bite the dust too! :) I think I need tips just as much as you!
Hello Hiraldo! You're so cute and look so healthy! I hope you'll grow up well and make Mama Dionne and Papa Brian proud. Haha, they definitely are proud of you, if not, why would you be here in Mama Dionne's blog post? (and she made an illustration out of you too!)
Here, call me aunty Tiara from Indonesia, hahah, you're lucky I'm not your mama because well.. I tend to forget things. :P
I always love new things! ;D haha.
What a fabulous looking little guy! I wish we had enough sunlight here so I could have one too!
Oh dear...I don't have much assistance to offer...sorry. I haven't had a plant in so many years...our apartment is not conducive to growing them. Hope he survives! =)
You're funny that you name your plants, and that you treat them as "part of your family"! Too cute I say!!
Beautiful!!!!!! I think that name perfectly suites your succulent! Happy Friday dearie!
What is it about herbs that they are great for the first few weeks and then they just go kaput? Or maybe it's their gardener.
I'm sure a succulent will be far more successful. Have you seen Gennine's watercolor blog? She paints succulents a lot. I love them.
yay + so cute! : )
haha long life to hiraldo!
have a beautiful weekend, darling! xo
love it!
i have some succulents... and i forget to water them regularly and they are thriving. i maybe do every other week or a little less, but they don't have that much soil seeing as they are in white mugs. they do get a fair amount of sun. i am probably not the best person to ask, though, because my basil lasted less time than yours :)
Your baby is verrrrrry pretty!
ok i totally thought you were pregnant when i started to read the first sentence. hahah
My Garden Club did a class on succulents this year. They are really easy to care for. Light, not much water are the two main things I remember.
Nice looking succulent. J-Fur has become interested in them over the last year so we have a couple although we haven't named ours. Maybe that is the key to keeping plants alive longer.
Haha, that's cute. ;) he looks very sweet and happy.
hey hiraldo!!!
bring lots of joy an peace to your new home! (i know you will)
I just planted some succulents myself - I love the way they look!
