I can clearly remember a house. The inside of a house that I was in when I was about 2 years old. I know I was two, because when I described the house to my Mum, she told me that it was the house of my aunt in the Philippines, and I haven't been there since I was 2. But I didn't remember anything about my aunt that lived there - just exactly where the chairs were, how many bedrooms there were, the scroll-work on the front gate, and the rickety ceiling fans.
But I also have a lot of memories where I can remember the whole scene. The whole day's events.

I remember when we moved into the first house that Mum and Dad designed. I had a window and a balcony in my room that faced the front yard, and I would watch my Dad play with my brother outside while I did my homework. Then when I was done, I would take my brother to the beach and we would splash each other with salt water and would get sand and water all over the house when we got home. I would play pranks on my sister, and gang up on her with my cousin, laughing and locking her out on the balcony - so many good memories.
I kept a journal for a few years, but I wish I had kept it up for longer. I think it's interesting what our brain remembers - how some things we can recall minute by minute, and other things are just fragments of pictures.

I know what you mean. I have the same snippets of memories. I love it though, it's like having a box of polaroids in your mind :)
My earliest memory is of a bright yellow kitchen. I don't know if it was actually yellow of just drenched in the sun light...but it was warm and pretty. I remember the very 70's design on the paper inside of the cupboard doors. I remember crawling around on the floor and looking at things. I'm happy it's such a warm and bright memory.
I keep several journals. One I kept with a friend for all of our Senior year. I have them all and love them...a small part of the person I was once. Who I loved, how life was, my thoughts....it's weird looking back on them, and not being that person now.
Yes, I have the same type of memories though I am at this age. They are very sweet and dear memories in my thoughts. It's funny though. I remember those very cealy. Whenever I talked about these to my mother, she always laughed and answered me how I could remember those little pieces of experiences. In fact she didn't remember until I explained these. Thank you for sharing this topic.
All the time! I have this one snapshot that enters my mind a lot of me being a "teacher" to my stuffed animals, the chalkboard and all.
The brain is a funny thing. I find that I too remember fragments of memories, that I wish I could place. I wish my parents would have taken more pictures when I was younger.
Great post. You made me think of some awesome memories.
I was up basically all night; I just couldn't sleep...and memories such as this ran through my head.
I love when the smell of something brings back a snippet of a good memory... I will just get a slight scent of something, and it will take me back to something i loved..
Oh, I do have viviid memories about my younger time, I can't really remember where and when but yeah, I remember those things. And that's actually great.
I remember stealing some candies with my cousins, we were little criminals, lol. And my parents paid it afterwards, luckily. So we didn't really steal anything, haha...
And that's what I blog for! It makes me remember more of what's happening in life :D
nice family memories, blogging is like a journal!
I know what you mean! Great memories. I really love Lake Tahoe because it reminds me of such happy memories when I was a kid.
Awww I used to write in a journal too! Until my mom read it:-) Lol.
I still want to write in a journal, I keep meaning to start one but where's the time?! Well I guess I'll have to make time!

thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. so happy to have colin safe :)
Yes, I know exactly what you mean! I lived in the UK when I was 2-6 years old, and although I do remember bits and pieces, I sure wish I remembered much more.
I also kept a diary for most of my teen and early 20 years, and I kind of wished I never stopped. I always find something "new" when I go back to those old diary entries.
Thanks for sharing :)
I absolutley adore typwriters like the one on the picture! :D

I wish I had kept a journal...
Memories are funny like that. Some are so crystal clear it's like you just did it yesterday and others are so foggy where all you get is a glimpse and the rest you have to piece together on your own. It's really amazing what our brains hang on to.
I love trying to remember little snippets of my young childhood. My mom took a TON of photos, but it's quite amazing how much we can really remember from when we were little.
What a wonderful post! It makes me think of all the little images in my head and all of the fun memories I had growing up!
I know exactly what you mean...can't memories be crazy?
As for journals, I'm trying to do a better job at writing in mine...I think it's so important to do. I do a pretty good job at keeping up my daughters journals, though. :)
