This weekend was a complete chocolate-fest. We went out with some friends for dinner, and then afterwards they took us to this place that I had never been to before. The Chocolate Bar. It was my dream come true. It's set up like a bar, with pub tables, etc. - but there is no alcohol there - it's all cake, chocolates, hot-chocolates, iced chocolates, etc. I was in heaven. I had a Chocolate Flan Cake and it was so richly wonderful, but it couldn't compare to the richness of the hot chocolate that I had with it. It was the thickest hot chocolate I have ever had. It was like drinking a cup of melted chocolate with a little bit of cream added to it. Oh. My. Gosh. Be still my chocolate-beating heart!

The thing about chocolate is that there's a style for everyone. It's not just a matter of dark, light and white chocolate - there's so many different forms of chocolate - like bars, truffles, cake, sprinkles... it really baffles me how some people can't find a SINGLE type of chocolate that they like.
I recently tried Bacon Chocolate (I know, it sounds weird - but it's amazing!). It has little bits of applewood smoked bacon mixed into the dark chocolate, and I find that the saltiness of the bacon, the sweetness of the applewood, and the bitterness of the dark chocolate makes a great combination. It's made by Vosges, and this place has really interesting, decadent, exotic chocolates. I order them when I want to splurge. I also highly recommend their Naga Bar.
What's your favorite chocolate?

metabolism biff :p
but i admit, i am a sucker for dark chocolate!
Ha ha Andrew. Yes, that's the downside of chocolate - as we age, our metabolism gets slower, and chocolate starts showing on the hips. I plan to continue on my chocolate diet for as long as I can get away with it.
anything that combines mint and chocolate is for me.........mmmmmm I love it....hips..not so much!!! lol
m :)
I'm like you Dionne. I never really "craved" chocolate until maybe a few years ago. I didn't hate it. It's funny how your tastes change.
I think dark is my favorite and milk chocolate my least favorite. I'm not a huge fan of milk chocolate unless it's mixed with something like nuts.
I have a serious weakness for chocolate too. Need to always have SOME kind of dark chocolate in the house. I LOVE Vosges too...all those crazy combinations. And I (used to) live across the street from a Joseph Schmidt store (now out of biz..sniff)
Bacon...chocolate?
May as well call the morgue because I will have died and gone to Heaven at the taste of such an incredible treat. Mmm...Bacon and Chocolate.
Better not let me have any of that, come to think of it. ;-)
And Swiss Chocolate all the way!
sounds like my kind of bar... I love most kinds of chocolate but especially chocolate paired with peanut butter. So good.
OMG!! I love chocolate so much. I can't even tell you what chocolate is my favorite!! Where do I begin??
Now, I need some! Thanks alot! hahaa

I'm all about the dark chocolate, too, but I can't resist a Reese's Peanut Butter cup if put in front of me. It's not high-end chocolate, but hey, it works. Oh, and nothing better than making chocolate chip cookies with Ghirardelli's Dark Chocolate chips!!
My dad is a fan of mustard and chocolate together - sounds right up the same alley as bacon and chocolate!!
that Chocolate Bar wounds so amazing! we have something called Hotel Chocolate here in Bath, they make the most amazing chocolates! i love the nutty ones like Ferrero Rocher!
xx
Wow! Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't heard of that place. Guess where I'll be going this weekend? :)
Oh my heavens. Seriously, I'd be a regular at that bar! I'm not really picky when it comes to chocolate. I'll take it however it's available. My latest fave has been chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Anything variety though, really. (My hubby baked me a choc cake for vday... He knows the way to my heart. Had to blog abt it was so great! :-)
I too have a weakness for chocolate! great post!
